Trail #683: The Day the Music Died
Saturday - February 3, 2024 - 2:09 pm - 5:09 pm
A long, long time ago
I can still remember
[not really… I wasn’t alive yet!]
how that music used to make me smile
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make these people HASH
And maybe they’d be happy for a while
But February made me shiver
[well, yeah, it’s freaking cold out!]
With every HASH MARK I’d deliver
I can’t remember if I cried
[but I’m sure Julie did 🤦🏽♀️]
But something touched me deep inside
[ooh yeah! 😉]
The day the music died!
So go the lyrics [kind of] to Don McLean’s 1971 folk rock banger, “American Pie”.
And when exactly was the day the music died? Well… the date was February 3rd, 1959. The day when, tragically, a plane crash took the lives of 3 young rock and roll musicians: Buddy Holly, J.P. Richardson (The Big Bopper), and Ritchie Valens.
So this February 3rd let’s pay tribute to our favorite Rock and Rollers that were gone too soon.
And… It’s also National Carrot Cake day, so expect some boozy treats on trail to lighten the mood!
